National Museum of Qatar

National museum of qatar building

The brief

Maximum accessibility has been a success criteria of the design and content of the new National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) from the start. Goss Consultancy Ltd (GCL), working in partnership with Fraser Randall Ltd, was asked to review and advise on how to maximise the access of the first seven of the museum's eleven permanent galleries and the wayfinding routes that visitors take around the museum.

Our approach

To support the National Museum of Qatar, GCL:

  • Carried out Access Reviews of all gallery spaces
  • Carried out a Rapid Access Appraisal of the NMoQ Curatorial Mediation Strategy
  • Provided support to NMoQ curatorial staff on access and inclusive design
  • Made recommendations to the NMoQ project board on access and inclusive design enhancements

What the client said

"We found it extremely helpful having GCL on board. They quickly understood the vision for the museum and worked very effectively and positively with us and our partners to inform and develop further ways of making the museum as accessible as possible."
