Tower of London

The tower of london

The brief

HRP wanted to commission an Access Review to build on and contribute to the work already undertaken to maximise the access of the Tower of London. One of HRP's strategic objectives is to deliver a welcoming experience which is accessible to all. An Access Review of the White Tower had already been undertaken and this additional piece of work was to review the rest of the site, to gain insight from a wide range of disabled people of their perception of access to the Tower of London and to create an action plan for implementing the review findings.

Our approach

  • We undertook a comprehensive Access Review of all of the Tower of London (excluding the White Tower)
  • We provided 12 key staff members with CPD accredited access training
  • We undertook 2 Access Focus Groups with people with impairments and long-term health conditions to gain an insight into their perceptions of access to the Tower of London

What the client said

"What we liked about GCL was their partnership approach. Their focus was on an Access Review rather than an Audit. Whilst we really valued and benefited from their independent and objective assessment, it really felt like something they were doing 'with us' not 'to us'. They really worked hard to ensure we could 'unlock the report' and that we had considered how we were going to implement the report's recommendations and had in place an effective and appropriate governance structure"
