The brief

The University of Cambridge Museums and Botanic Garden commissioned Goss Consultancy Ltd (GCL) to carry out a baseline assessment of all their museums and Botanic Garden for access and inclusion. They also wanted to upskill key staff on access and inclusion to support the development and implementation of an access delivery plan across the museums.

Our approach

GCL undertook an Access Review of:

  • The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
  • The Museum of Classical Archaeology
  • The Fitzwilliam Museum
  • Kettle's Yard
  • The Polar Museum
  • The Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences
  • The Whipple Museum of the History of Science
  • The Museum of Zoology
  • The Botanic Garden
  • Provided 13 key staff with CPD accredited access training
  • Delivered summary presentations of findings and recommendations to directors and key stakeholders

What the client said

"The museum directors and staff who took part in this project found it to be an extremely positive experience. The process and review outcomes have really helped to further engage staff around access and inclusion issues, and by working with GCL we now have an even clearer idea about what more we can do to enhance access and inclusion and how to achieve it. This is testament to GCL's supportive, knowledgeable and constructive approach."
